Cortland shops plan Gingerbread Walk

CORTLAND

Cortland Specialty Shops will host a Gingerbread Walk from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 to kick off the holiday season.

New attractions this year will include a life-size gingerbread house for kids to have their pictures taken with, and lunch offered by the Cortland Historical Society. Also new is a gingerbread house contest at the Opera House. Houses must be entirely edible and have a base 14 inches square. Kit houses are allowed. Houses will be judged and prizes awarded.

The age groups are 5 to 8, 9 to 12, 13 to 17 and 18 and older. The deadline to enter is Nov. 7. For information and to enter the contest call Christina Benton at 330-240-2257.

Choirs will go caroling throughout the shops and town, and they’ll come together at 1 p.m. at the Opera house for a special performance.
