Cleveland, Cincy papers endorse Kasich
CLEVELAND (AP) — The daily newspaper in Cleveland and Cincinnati are endorsing Republican Gov. John Kasich for re-election.
The Plain Dealer in Cleveland today said Kasich has proven himself an excellent fiscal manager of Ohioans’ money.
The newspaper says Kasich’s bid for a second term has been benefited by the problems within the campaign of Democratic nominee Ed FitzGerald. The Cuyahoga County Executive earlier this year acknowledged that he went years without a permanent driver’s license.
The Cincinnati Enquirer endorsed Kasich earlier this week, saying he has done a competent job and overseen a gradual improvement in the state’s economy.
The Cincinnati newspaper also said Kasich has shown his independence by pushing through the expansion of Medicaid.
