Boys cross country finishes season


The Boardman Spartan cross country team concluded their season by placing eighth on Oct. 18 at a wet and muddy Trumbull County Fairgrounds course.

Senior Nick Long led the Spartans with an 18th place finish in a time of 17:17. He was followed by junior Ethan Schwedeman in 19th place with the same 17:17 finish. Sophomore Nathaniel Ams was next at 34th overall in a time of 17:48.

They were followed by sophomore Chris Butler in 42nd place with a time of 18:00 and senior Juan Santiago in 47th overall with a time of 18:18 as well as sophomore Nick Digiacomo in 56th place in a time of 18:35 and junior Adam Deeley in 61st overall in a time of 18:44.

“This was not our best day,” said Boardman Head Coach John Phillips. “In our district, with all these good teams, you have to have your best race or you are going home and today we learned a tough lesson.” The Spartans finish their season with a 77-76 record.
