A new program was stared at the Austintown library on Sept. 10, with its first Bits N Pieces Scrapbooking program.

The library hopes to do the event once every month. Each month has a different theme, with the initial program’s theme being autumn.

“It’s almost like a book club, is what we want to do,” Austintown library adult services librarian Lindsay Platt said. “People can come and share ideas and if they want to bring their own tools and things like that and share, that would be great because we’re kind of limited. I just thought it would be a fun way for people to come to the library and interact with the people with the same interests.”

A table in the library’s meeting room was filled with scrapbooking supplies, such as yarn, paper, tape, markers, glue, stickers, glitter, ribbons, paperclips and scissors, each that cuts paper in a different design.

Platt said she hopes that next month the library can supply the stock paper. It only currently offers construction paper.

Platt said that people can gain a valuable experience, just by participating in the program.

“Memories and just the fun of doing it. It’s a lot of fun,” she said.
