On Oct. 20, the Austintown library hosted its second monthly email computer class to teach area residents how to use email.

Adult services librarian Lindsay Platt said she wasn’t sure if the class would be monthly in the future.

“I’m not sure because we didn’t have quite as many people signed up this month,” she said. “We have three spots available. We’ll probably do the internet one every month because that one seems to be a little bit more popular.”

Platt added that the class is limited to three people because the Austintown library only has that many laptops. More can attend if they provide their own.

Platt said the class was started due to questions the library received on how to use email.

“We get a lot of questions here about emailing and people aren’t sure how to do it and they need a lot of help with it,” she said. “Giving a small class is a little bit more helpful.”

Platt said her class covers all the basic aspects of emailing.

“I use Yahoo and I try to show them the basics of how to email; how to read it, write, respond, how to add an attachment, things like that,” she said.

Platt said that anyone who is not sure how to use email would greatly benefit by signing up for the class.

“Since you need email for just about everything you do on a computer, it helps them to better be able to understand it and navigate,” she said.
