Connecticut man accused of ‘mopping aggressively’

BRISTOL, Conn.

A Connecticut man is facing charges after police said he grabbed a mop out of a hotel employee’s hands and was “mopping aggressively” over the worker’s shoes.

Police say 30-year-old John Thornton of Southington was arrested Oct. 13 and charged with breach of peace and threatening.

Officers responding to the Bristol hotel were told a man had become “unruly,” grabbed the mop and swept it back and forth over the woman’s shoes.

When the employee asked the man to stop, police say he turned his back and pushed her into a corner.

Police say the woman was shaken and crying.

Authorities say Thornton insulted and swore at officers during the arrest, threatening them with bodily harm.

He was released on $20,000 bond. There was no answer at a phone listing in his name.

Police: Suspect gets chased through Chicago Marathon

CHICAGO

Authorities say a wanted man attempted to flee pursuing officers by blending into the sea of Chicago Marathon runners.

WLS-TV reported that Bryan Duffy of Chicago ran from police officers Oct. 12 after they approached him.

Police say the 29-year-old man jumped into a group of marathon runners in hopes he could make an escape. But police were ultimately able to tackle and arrest Duffy.

Police say the man was carrying 10 capsules of MDMA, also known as Molly or ecstasy.

Duffy is charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

He also was charged with reckless conduct for endangering the marathon runners.

His bail was set for $10,000.

Police find puppy during Massachusetts drug bust

LAWRENCE, Mass.

Police searching the pockets of a suspected drug dealer in Lawrence, Mass., got an unusual surprise.

An officer pulled out a tiny 3-week-old pit-bull puppy and handed it over to animal control.

The little dog was separated from its mother too soon and got sick and dehydrated, but is recovering at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Waltham.

Veterinarian Kristina DePaula estimates the dog is no more than 3 or 4 weeks old.

The puppy, dubbed Pocket, of course, should be ready for adoption within a few weeks.
