NHTSA warns drivers: Get your airbags checked

YOUNGSTOWN — More than 7 million vehicles have been a part of a defective airbag recall and now the National Highway Traffic Safety Association warns drivers to act immediately on the recall.

Owners of Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Chrysler, Ford and General Motors vehicles could all be affected by the Takata airbag recall.

“Responding to these recalls, whether old or new, is essential to personal safety and it will help aid our ongoing investigation into Takata airbags and what appears to be a problem related to extended exposure to consistently high humidity and temperatures,” said David Friedman, NHTSA Deputy Administrator.
