Maple Leafs 5, Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y.

Phil Kessel scored two goals to lead Toronto. Nine Maple Leafs finished with at least one point, led by Kessel’s three. James van Riemsdyk and Mike Santorelli had two points apiece. Roman Polak, van Riemsdyk and David Clarkson also scored goals for Toronto (3-3-1), which has earned points in four of its last five games. Jonathan Bernier made 32 saves. Nick Leddy and John Tavares scored for New York (4-2-0).

Rangers 4, Devils 3, OT

NEWARK, N.J.

Kevin Klein scored 2:42 into overtime, and the Rangers rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period. The Rangers also got goals from Chris Kreider, Chris Mueller and Rick Nash, who netted his NHL-best eighth goal. He scored in all but one of New York’s seven games this season. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots as the Rangers (4-3) extended their winning streak to three. The Devils (3-2-1) got power-play goals from Jaromir Jagr, Adam Henrique and Jon Merrill but it wasn’t enough to prevent a third straight defeat. Cory Schneider made 21 saves.

Bruins 5, Sharks 3

BOSTON

Gregory Campbell scored the game winner with less than 10 minutes remaining and the Bruins had to fend off a late four-minute power play. Brad Marchand and Torey Krug scored power-play goals, and Seth Griffith netted his first career NHL goal for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask made 30 saves for Boston. For the Sharks, Logan Couture had two goals and Joe Thornton one. Antti Niemi made 28 saves.

Canadiens 2, Red Wings 1

MONTREAL

David Desharnais scored 56 seconds into overtime to give Montreal a comeback victory. Desharnais poked the puck in from the side of the net after Jimmy Howard made saves on shots from Max Pacioretty and P.K. Subban as Montreal (6-1-0) won a third game in a row. Henrik Zetterberg, with an assist from Pavel Datsyuk, scored in the second period for Detroit (3-1-2). Alex Galchenyuk tied the game with 3:09 left in the third period with each team down a man as he came out from behind the net and stuffed the puck inside the post.

Predators 4, Coyotes 3, SO

NASHVILLE, TENN.

Ryan Ellis scored the decisive goal in the shootout. Mike Ribeiro, Ellis, and James Neal scored in regulation for Nashville, winners of two of three. Rob Klinkhammer, Keith Yandle, and Martin Erat scored for Arizona. The Coyotes have lost two straight.

Blackhawks 4, Flyers 0

CHICAGO

Antti Raanta made 32 saves to earn a shutout in his first start of the season, and Patrick Kane scored two power-play goals to lead Chicago. Brandon Saad and Bryan Bickell scored along with Kane in a 2:06 flurry late in the first period. Raanta was sharp as he stepped in for Corey Crawford — Chicago’s No. 1 goalie who is out day-to-day with an upper-body injury — to record his second career shutout. Among his saves were two point-blank stops on Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux.

Stars 6, Canucks 3

DALLAS

Erik Cole scored two goals while Kari Lehtonen made 43 saves. Dallas scored five goals on only 12 shots against Vancouver starting goalie Ryan Miller to drive him from the game just 1:17 into the second period.
