Gov. Kasich in Boardman on Thursday for 'special announcement'

BOARDMAN — Gov. John Kasich and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor will join officials with the Ohio Laborers’ District Council in Boardman on Thursday.

A statement from the campaign touts a “special announcement” will be made at the event at a construction site near 8110 Market St. in the township.

The council is likely to announce it is endorsing Kasich, a Republican, in the general election.

Kasich picked up his first union endorsement Oct. 9 when the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 threw their support behind the incumbent governor.

Most labor unions in Ohio that have endorsed are backing Ed FitzGerald, Kasich’s Democratic opponent.
