Coroner says man died of heart attack
WARREN
The Trumbull County coroner ruled that Elbert Brooks, 62, who was found dead Monday morning near the sidewalk in front of a car dealership, died of a massive heart attack. Police were called at 10:08 a.m. to Grace Automotive, 2532 Youngstown Road, where two young men found Brooks’ body. They alerted employees and left. Brooks’ last known address was on Hazelwood Avenue Southeast, several blocks east of where his body was found.
Ambulance personnel tried to revive Brooks, but he was pronounced dead at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Warren police said there were no signs of trauma. Surveillance video from a nearby business showed Brooks walking by himself in front of the business about 8:45 a.m., police said.
Artisans cafe, gallery

The grand opening of Trumbull Art Gallery’s Artisan Cafe and Gallery, 410 S. Main St., will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. It will feature the work of Rick Muccio, a newspaper illustrator/designer/cartoonist. The Main Street structure is a restored warehouse and commercial building constructed in the early 1900s located near two former train stations and businesses that catered to railroad traffic. Refreshments will be served.

Salem atty. killed
NORTH LIMA
Atty. Robert Melnick, 58, of Salem, was killed when a semi tractor trailer failed to slow down as traffic entered a construction zone near Swanton Sunday and hit his car and five others. According to WFMJ TV-21, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the Ohio Highway State Patrol said five others were injured in the crash. Two were taken to a hospital by helicopter with life-threatening injuries, and three others were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment. The accident is under investigation. Police closed the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike, near mile marker 48, for several hours while the highway was cleared.
