YOUNGSTOWN

Police say a man who is suspected of causing a drunken-driving accident early Sunday on Interstate 680 was found drunk at his mother’s house a short time after the accident.

According to a police report, officers were called to the northbound lanes of Interstate 680 about 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of an accident where a car had driven away. Witnesses told police a car was traveling north on the interstate, turned around in an emergency turnaround lane to the southbound lane, hit another car in the southbound lanes and drove away.

Police found a bumper and Virginia license plate on the highway, tracked down the driver through the plate and another officer found a car missing its front bumper in a parking lot in the 500 block of Meridian Road.

Police went there, but the driver already was gone, picked up by another driver, reports said. The bumper found on the freeway matched the car, and police found the driver, 39-year-old Dionne M. Greene, in a home on Atkinson Avenue on the East Side, reports said. Reports said he was lying on the floor and was so inebriated he could not talk to police.

Police issued Greene citations for driving under the influence, fleeing the scene of an accident and having no driver’s license, reports said.
