Braydich Dental, 45 E. Liberty St., is offering its second annual Free Dental Day for Veterans from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7.

Patients will be treated on a first-come, first-serve basis and receive their choice of a filling, extraction, cleaning, or denture adjustment.

Braydich Dental annually hosts a Dentistry From the Heart event during which dentists provide free care to uninsured local residents in need. Over the past four years, Braydich Dental has provided nearly $150,000 worth of free dental care through Dentistry From the Hearts events.

In 2013, Drs. Rudy and Mark Braydich created an additional free-care event for area veterans as a way to thank them for their service to the nation. For information, contact Danielle at 330-534-5408.

Flu Shot Clinic

AUSTINTOWN

The Austintown Senior Center in conjunction with The Hometown Pharmacy is sponsoring a Flu Shot Clinic from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Oct. 29 at the center, 112 Westchester Drive. All are welcome.

Bring Medicare card or proof of insurance. For information call 330-953-1416. Shingles and Pneumoccal vaccines also will be available by request. People can pre-register at the center.

Volunteer training for terminal illness

POLAND

Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, is offering volunteer training from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays starting this Friday and ending Nov. 21 for people interested in learning companion volunteering for patients living with a terminal illness.

Volunteers are needed in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio and Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania. For information, call the volunteer department at 330-549-5908.

Volunteers provide respite to the family members, at home or in a nursing home and serve in a variety of other ways as well such as answering phones at the Hospice House, mailings, clerical, staffing health fairs and special events.

The class is an introduction to the interdisciplinary team approach.

The staff of Hospice of the Valley, trained in hospice care, will provide information to make volunteers feel more competent in their role of caring for those at this crucial time.

Free nutrition seminar

YOUNGSTOWN

A local doctor of naturopathy, Danielle MacDuff, is offering a free seminar, “Nutrition 101” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road. Registration begins at 6 p.m.

This seminar includes a live cooking show and door prizes. The seminar will be free to attend, but registration is limited to 50 seats. To pre-register, call 330-505-3515.

One-hour “Health at Home” workshop

WARREN

Humility of Mary Health Partners is offering a one-hour workshop, “Health at Home,” from 11 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Health Center, 667 Eastland Ave. SE.

The workshop includes a reference guide that provides information about more than 200 common health problems as well as tips on caring for yourself and your family, preventing illness and injury, and advice on when to seek medical attention.

Health at Home workshops will also be offered at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center on Nov. 13 and St. Elizabeth in Youngstown on Dec. 11.
