Exec charged in Ohio VA case

A business executive from Virginia is being charged in a federal corruption case that already has resulted in a guilty plea from the former director of Veterans Affairs medical centers in Cleveland and Dayton.

Prosecutors say Mark S. Farmer of Arlington, Va., offered bribes to the former VA director in exchange for information about VA construction projects.

Farmer was charged Monday with conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, embezzlement and theft of government property. A message seeking comment was left at a listing for Farmer in Virginia.

The former director of the VA medical centers in Cleveland and Dayton pleaded guilty in February to multiple federal charges.
