Mooney advances, South Range ousted

There won't be a rematch in the volleyball Division III district final at Salem High School.

South Range, last year's district champion, was eliminated in Monday's semifinal by Mineral Ridge.

Cardinal Mooney, which lost to the Raiders in the 2013 title game, advanced by defeating Crestview.

Also in Division III, Newton Falls was defeated by Gilmour Academy at the LaBRae High School district.

In Division II at West Branch, Hubbard defeated Salem while Crestwood ousted West Branch.

In Division IV at Lakeview High School, Mathews defeated Ledgemont and will face Ashtabula St. John in the district final.
