Man in court Thursday for Hubbard shooting death

HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — A preliminary hearing is set in Girard Municipal Court for Thursday for a man charged with shooting another man to death about 10:45 p.m. Thursday at a Thornton Road home.

Police Chief Todd Coonce said Wesley Williams, 35, is in the Trumbull County Jail on a murder charge for the death of 22-year-old Scott R. Williams of Sharpsbville, Pa.

The two are not related, Coonce said.

Coonce said Wesley Williams is accused of handling a .10-gauge shotgun which went off and hit Scott Williams. Coonce said Wesley Williams claimed he did not know the gun was loaded.

Alcohol was involved, Coonce said.
