License-restoration workshop set Wednesday in Lisbon

LISBON — The Columbiana County Municipal Court will partner with the local district office of Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to provide a license-restoration workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

During the workshop, suspended drivers can meet county judges Carol Robb and Mark Frost one-on-one at the Municipal Court building, 38832 Saltwell Road, to clear up driving suspensions or possibly earn limited driving privileges to maintain employment or stay in school.

The judges will give an overview on a new law for Ohio reinstatement fees that allows for a $50-per-month payment plan and a restoration of full driving privileges.

For other drivers that don’t qualify for a payment plan, a BMV representative can give the driver a list of steps that can possibly result in a limited restoration of privileges.

Those who attend the workshop and plan to set up a payment plan should take a bank check or money order payable to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles for $50 to get started.

Subsequent payments can be made at any deputy registrar’s office or online.

BMV representatives at the workshop cannot accept cash or credit cards.

The judges emphasized the program is meant to serve otherwise good drivers who are dealing with bureaucratic or insurance issues.

Time slots for the event will fill quickly. Call the court during normal business hours at 330-424-5326 for an appointment.
