Maurice Clarett, entrepreneur and a member of Ohio State University’s 2002 national championship football team, will deliver the keynote address at the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League’s 2014 annual dinner Friday at McMenamy’s, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road. The event’s theme is “Our Youth is Our Destiny.”

Clarett, 30, a native of Youngstown, overcame time in prison to re-invent himself as an author, philanthropist and motivational speaker.

The event will include a reception scheduled for 6 p.m., with the dinner and program to follow at 7. Entertainment will be provided by Howard and the Point Five Band.

Tickets are $35 per person. To buy tickets or to become a sponsoring company for the event, call the Urban League at 330-394-4316.

The Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League is celebrating its 84th year of service in the Mahoning Valley, and is one of the premier voices of the region’s minority communities.

The fundraising event will help to sustain the Urban League’s empowerment programs — homeless shelter, entrepreneurship, employment and training, fair housing and education.
