DeAugustine blanks Saints

Kyle Connor scored two goals and made two assists on Saturday while Colin DeAugustine recorded a shutout as the Youngstown Phantoms defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints, 6-0.

None of the Phantoms’ goals came on the power play.

Eighteen seconds after scoring an unassisted goal in the first period, Connor netted another, this one set up by Chase Pearson and Bryan Lemos as Youngstown jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead.

Three minutes later, defenseman Tommy Parran scored. Connor and Lemos assisted.

In the second period, Vas Kolias and Matt Miller scored. Kevin Conley closed out the scoring with a third-period goal.

DeAugustine stopped 34 shots. Lemos made three assists.

Phantoms penalty killers shut down all six power plays the Fighting Saints had.

Dubuque outshot Youngstown, 34-19.

The victory gave the Phantoms a weekend spilt in Iowa. Friday, the Phantoms lost to the Fighting Saints, 5-4, in overtime.
