Weathersfield Township trustees awarded a $93,944 paving contract for Warner Road to an Akron company.

Trustees this week approved an agreement for the resurfacing contract to Shelly & Sands.

The approval is pending review and approval by the township’s legal counsel.

The project was bid as part of the Trumbull County Engineer’s 2014 countywide road improvements. The township received funding through the Ohio Public Works Commission for paving Warner, which is about 3,000 feet of roadway from Niles-Carver Road to Ashland Avenue.

The township’s portion of the project is $21,000, Administrator David Rouan said.

Trustees also authorized Rouan to dispose of miscellaneous police equipment and an aluminum dog kennel that is not needed and is obsolete, or unfit. The kennel has a value of less than $2,500.

Rouan has been authorized to sell the kennel.

In other business, trustees learned the Oakview Avenue project, which is to correct roadway drainage and street flooding, and will include repaving, will start when Dominion East Ohio Gas relocates two service lines.

The $123,000 project will include $93,000 in an Ohio Public Works grant and include a local share of $29,000.

Changes to cemetery fees, policies and regulations are being worked on, and a new fire engine and two sport utility vehicles, which will be used for the fire chief and assistant fire chief, are due to arrive by the end of this month.

Trustees set trick-or-treat hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30.
