The Vindicator will publish a list of religious services honoring veterans. Information should be submitted by 5 p.m. Oct. 29 for publication Nov. 1; Veterans Day is Nov. 11.

Priest installed

YOUNGSTOWN

The Rev. Florentin Gabriel Agoston was installed as priest of Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church, 626 Wick Ave., during the weekend of Oct. 4 and 5.

Archbishop Nathaniel Pop of the Romanian Archdiocese of Michigan officiated at vespers and the hierarchical Divine Liturgy.

Father Gabriel was born in Marghita, Romania. He attended the Faculty of Theology of Oradea, Romania, and graduated in 1999. He received a master’s degree in theology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

He was a psaltis at Baile 1 Mai, Bihor, Romania, from 1996-2000, and a deacon in Mitropolis of Serres and Nigritis, Greece, from 2002-06. He was the parish priest in the Orthodox Episcopate of Oradea from 2006-14.

In April of this year, Father Gabriel and his family came to America from Romania. They were received by the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America in Grass Lake, Mich. The ROEA is part of the Orthodox Church in America.

Father Gabriel and his wife, Simona, have two sons.

Musical tea

YOUNGSTOWN

The music ministry of Shiloh Baptist Church will present a musical tea at 4 p.m. next Saturday at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave.

Phyllis White, minister of music of Phillips Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, will be the speaker. Tables will be represented by the sopranos, altos, tenors, bass and musicians.

Ronnie Rupert is choir president and the Rev. Ricky Tigner, pastor.

Bethesda Ministries

The Rev. John and Filise House of Son Grace Ministries will return to Bethesda Ministries, 12740 W. South Range Road, at 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. An offering will be taken at services.

The Rev. Mr. Hauser served 16 years as a Methodist minister. His wife has released 14 albums and is affiliated with National Associates of United Methodist Evangelists.

Dresses for Haiti

HUBBARD

The collection of Little Dresses for Haiti will take place Nov. 4 at the Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road.

Last year, 1,222 sundresses were made by sewers in the Mahoning Valley from pillow cases or yard goods. The sundresses were delivered to Lifeline Ministries in Westerville and sent with their supplies to Haiti.

Patterns, fabrics, sewing notions and tips will be available. Donations of supplies are welcome.

The Senior Sewing Group meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church in downtown Youngstown. Bring your sewing kit and a sack lunch and join this group of Christian women making little sundresses for Haiti.
