POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Oct. 7

Theft: A laptop computer and a computer case valued at a total of $650 were stolen from a car at a Shepherds Ridge Drive residence.

Oct. 8

Theft: Medications, small amounts of money and credit cards were among items taken from a home in the 2500 block of Shetland Lane.

Oct. 10

Theft/criminal damaging: A Manor Avenue man reported $35 missing from his vehicle, which also sustained $150 in damage.

BOARDMAN

Oct. 11

Arrests: Two Boardman boys, 13 and 14, were charged with obstructing official business after police received information that two juveniles at a big-box store in the 300 block of Boardman-Canfield Road might have guns. Both teens led officers on a foot pursuit before being apprehended, a report showed.

Domestic violence: A Boardman girl, 15, was charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstructing official business after her mother alleged that during an argument about a hockey game, the teen punched the accuser then threw rocks and struck her face with one. The girl also refused to comply with police, they said.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a home in the 700 block of Ronlee Lane, striking a front window.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard resulted in 29-year-old Pamela E. Zitello’s arrest. Zitello, of Mathews Road, Boardman, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A Glenridge Court man told officers his teenage daughter’s iPhone was stolen from her gym bag.

Theft: Chelsie R. Kerns, 25, of North Center Street, Grove City, Pa., was charged, accused of having stolen $129 worth of clothing from Macy’s.

Fraud: An East Parkside Drive woman discovered two online transactions totaling $150 had been made with her credit card.

Menacing: A New Middletown man at a business in the 8000 block of South Avenue reported having gotten a call implying he might be killed.

Theft: Kimberly E. Donahue, 25, of Pittsburgh was charged in the theft of four shirts and T-shirts from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. The theft came to $316.

Theft: Sixteen articles of children’s clothing worth $294 were taken from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Stolen property: Police in the 6100 block of Market Street picked up 31-year-old Joshua R. Kosa of South Bailey Road, North Jackson. He was wanted on a felony warrant charging him with receiving stolen property related to an Oct. 4 situation in which numerous tools had been stolen from a construction site in the 7400 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: Rodney L. Smallwood and Austin C.C. Rowe, both 20, and 24-year-old John A. Chapman, all of Everett Avenue, Youngstown, were charged with the theft of 10 video games valued at $220 from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Police charged Nicole Wallace, 30, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, along with two 14-year-old Youngstown girls, with stealing about $61 worth of merchandise, including lighters, from Walmart.

Oct. 12

Aggravated menacing: A Market Street man alleged an intoxicated former co-worker called threatening to kill him.

Arrest: Officers responded to a report of someone passed out in a car in a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant’s drive-thru before charging 21-year-old Brian P. Yatsco with operating a vehicle impaired. Yatsco, of Truesdale Road, Boardman, had a blood-alcohol count of 0.179, more than twice the legal limit, a report stated.

Assault: A Valencia, Pa., man alleged that a coach had punched his neck area during an argument at a sporting event at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 7100 block of Locust Avenue, from which four metal Halloween necklaces were removed.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed eggs at a home in the 6600 block of Mill Creek Boulevard and damaged a portion of siding.

Theft: A woman in her late 20s or early 30s reportedly stole $85 worth of hair extensions from Hair Depot, 4026 Market St.

Possible theft: A Moyer Avenue man reported his cellphone lost or stolen.

Theft: A 14-year-old township boy was accused of stealing a pack of bandannas from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.

Theft: Misty D. Arehart, 22, faced charges of theft, possession of criminal tools and carrying a concealed weapon after being accused of using a knife to open the packages of and steal four cellphones from Walmart. Arehart, of Gaither Avenue, Youngstown, also had an 8-inch pocketknife on her person, a report said.

Oct. 13

Arrest: Aaron L. Jones Jr., no age given, of Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, was booked on charges of obstructing official business, criminal trespassing and impersonating a police officer, all misdemeanors, after a Southern Park Mall security member told authorities Jones had refused to leave and claimed he was training to be a police officer. Jones also failed to provide officers with his personal information and had no identification to verify he was an officer in training, they said.

Domestic violence: A township boy, 12, was accused of hitting his mother’s cheek with a large rug during an argument related to discipline matters.

Menacing: A Lockwood Boulevard woman told police a neighbor with whom she has ongoing problems threatened to shoot her dogs if they entered his property.

Robbery: Brianne L. Henkel, 34, of Oak Street, Leetonia, faced charges of robbery and possession of criminal tools after $617 worth of clothing and shoes was stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Henkel, who police allege shoved a loss-prevention official several times in an attempt to leave, also placed aluminum foil around a pair of boots in an effort to bypass the store’s detection system, a report showed.

Theft: A traffic stop near South Avenue led to the arrest of 20-year-old Kieera Welch of West Woodland Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a theft charge related to an April 8 shoplifting situation in which $264 worth of merchandise had been stolen from Sears in Southern Park Mall.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Glenwood Avenue woman said a friend took her 2007 Cadillac Escalade vehicle without permission.

Vandalism: A woman told authorities someone tossed a rock and struck her vehicle as she drove on South Avenue.

Menacing: A Shields Road woman said her 12-year-old daughter had been threatened at school.

Theft: A man stole two energy drinks from Dollar General, 4996 Market St.

Theft: A global-positioning-system device and a car charger were removed from a vehicle in the 3300 block of Flora Lane.

Vandalism: A man noticed roof damage to his Hunters Ridge Drive residence.

Oct. 14

Aggravated menacing: A worker with a South Avenue call center told authorities an angry customer in Los Angeles threatened to drive his vehicle through the business’s front door and kill all of the employees.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a home in the 60 block of Roche Way. A gas stove and a refrigerator were missing.

Criminal damaging: A Glenwood Avenue woman alleged that during an argument, her boyfriend punched a hole in her bathroom wall.

Theft: A man and a woman stole two specialized vacuum cleaners from Bed, Bath and Beyond, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Authorities charged 47-year-old Janet L. Clay with theft after alleging Clay, of Eastway Drive, Youngstown, had stolen about $157 worth of clothing from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Fraud: A Valley View Drive woman found two unauthorized purchases totaling $563 on her debit-card statement.

Arrest: Officers responded to a report that a man walking on South Avenue may have been injured before arresting 19-year-old Christopher R. Lemin of West Warren Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a Struthers warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Theft: Mushtariy Z. Husainova, 23, of West Boulevard, Boardman, was charged with taking a $110 wristwatch from Macy’s.

Theft: An employee with a Boardman-Canfield Road health-care facility reported a $150 football jersey stolen while at work.

Trespassing: Authorities charged Britney M. McMurray, 23, of Tippecanoe Road, Boardman, with criminal trespassing and child endangerment after her former boyfriend, of Pierce Drive, alleged she had gotten into his residence without permission. McMurray later admitted having entered via the front door, a report said.

Stolen property: A worker for a Market Street business reported he unwittingly bought a $100 cellphone before realizing a Youngstown woman had reported the item stolen.

Theft: A Goshen Township man discovered a $200 GPS unit missing from his room at a South Avenue motel.
