CAMPBELL

The signs that welcome people to the city of Campbell are quaint but small. That’s what some members of the Campbell Pride Project concluded at a summer meeting.

So, to raise funds for one large welcome sign to the city, the group will host the first Campbell Fall Fun Fest from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Roosevelt Park’s community center off Struthers- Liberty Road.

Campbell Pride Project is a volunteer group of city residents who clean up and decorate the city throughout the year.

Annette Tovarnak, who leads the project, said the group researched costs for large signs to put by the city’s borders. She said most cost several thousand dollars.

After brainstorming over the summer about how to raise money for at least one big entrance sign, the group came up with the idea for the craft and fall-themed festival.

Tovarnak said the day’s events will take place both inside and outside the community center.

The event will offer free hayrides, a free pumpkin- decorating contest for kids, an auction and ethnic food made by members of the city’s churches. Tovarnak said Campbell Pride will raise money for the welcome sign from food sales and auction tickets.
