BCMS volleyball loses to Niles

The Boardman Center Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team recently lost a hard fought match to Niles in tournament play with scores of 20-25 and 23-25. Gia Meltz had three points from serving in the first game, while Tyler Boggs served eight points in the second game. Their season record is now 6-11.

BGMS volleyball teams victorious

On Oct. 11, the Boardman Glenwood Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team participated in a tournament. The girls defeated Braden 25-20, 17-25 and 25-19 to advance them to the championship game. The girls played a tough match and really worked together for this win. The eighth-grade BGMS girls’ volleyball team beat Girard in two games to advance them to the second round in the tournament. The team really played well together and had great energy on the court. In the second round they played Struthers and lost in three games. The girls had a rough start in the first game but fought hard in order to take Struthers to three games.

BHS girls soccer has tie

The Boardman Lady Spartans varsity soccer team tied West Branch 1-1 at West Branch on Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. Junior Anna Saxton scored for Boardman, while senior Alexis Downie had one assist. Senior Kristen Huck had 10 saves. The Boardman Lady Spartan junior varsity team defeated West Branch 2-0. Freshman Cara Higgins scored a goal and junior Marisa Hanna scored a goal and had one assist. Sophmore Skylar Bryant had one assist.

BCMS volleyball victory

The Boardman Center Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team defeated Warren on Oct. 8 with scores of 25-12 and 25-9. Tyler Boggs had a combined nine points serving, while Keimanni Boyd had nine points serving and Josephine Madunicky had seven points serving.

The whole team played great defense for the win.

BGMS volleyball defeated

Boardman Glenwood Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team lost to Howland 17-25 and 10-25 to make them 9-6 on the season. Jenna Burns and Maddy Ricciuti played a strong match. The BGMS eighth-grade volleyball team lost in two to Howland. The score in the first game was 18-25 and the second game was 25-27 to make their season record 7-8. After the tough loss in the first game the girls were down 24-15 in the second game. Kaylin Burkey went back to serve and got on a nine point run making the score 24-24. The girls battled to go to a third game, but lost the match in two.

BGMS football defeated

The Boardman Glenwood Middle School football team lost a hard fought game on Oct. 7 to Youngstown Silver 30-12. Che’ Trevena caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Michael Fetsko and Manny Perez added to the scoring effort with a 2-yard touchdown run. Tim Fowler and Connor Miller each had fumble recoveries for the Spartans.

New basketball tournament announced

The first Canfield Cardinals fifth- and sixth-grade boys basketball tournament will take place on Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at Canfield Village Middle School. This tournament is limited to 16 teams in each grade level and the cost is $125 with a four game guarantee. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
