Boardman man gets 15 years to life for June 2013 homicide

LISBON — A 35-year-old Boardman man pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Mason M. Feisel of Afton Avenue was in Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas on Thursday and entered his plea. Judge C. Ashley Pike gave him credit for 499 days served in the county jail awaiting the final disposition of his case.

Salem police charged Feisel in the death of his girlfriend, 32-year-old Samantha Shasteen. Her father found her dead in the bathroom at 2107 Oak St. early June 6, 2013, according to Vindicator files.

She was found to have suffered from severe head trauma and died from strangulation.

Police found Feisel lying against a tree in a nearby backyard after Shasteen’s father called police after seeing him in the garage before discovering his daughter and coming back to the garage to find him missing.

Feisel had several self-inflicted wounds on his neck and arms, authorities said.
