Pumpkin carvers are needed
YOUNGSTOWN
Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., needs volunteers to carve pumpkins from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday.
Everyone is welcome to carve as many pumpkins as they wish.
Visit the carved, lighted pumpkins at the annual Pumpkin Walk at the Gardens from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Cider, pastries and hands-on projects for the children will be available.
Trick Nor Treat event planned

Beyond Expectations South Bridge Therapy & Learning Center invites the community for the 3rd Annual Trick Nor Treat, a candy-free event, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at 725 Boardman-Canfield Road, E-1.
The event will feature pumpkin decorating and crafts, Halloween games, basket auction, bunnies in baskets and a costume contest.

Dereon’s wish event planned for Saturday

La La Love Healthcare is sponsoring an event on behalf of Dereon North, 6, who has a rare neurological disorder.
The Dereon’s Wish event will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the gym of St. Joseph the Provider School, 633 Porter Ave.
It will include a basket auction, food, games, prizes, entertainment and more.
Admission is $6 per adult and $3 per child.
Dereon’s mother wants to transport her to Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, which specializes in her daughter’s disorder and may help her to walk again.
Her mother needs to purchase a wheelchair van and raise traveling expenses for the trip to Baltimore.
American Girl tea planned for Oct. 25
YOUNGSTOWN
An American Girl Doll Tea will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St.
Girls, their favorite doll, mothers and grandmothers are invited, but reservations are required.
The event will include a light lunch of tea sandwiches, fruit and sweets, tea or pink lemonade, and crafts, games and a brief tour of the museum.
The featured doll is Rebecca, a Jewish immigrant from Russia. Those attending will learn about immigration to Youngstown in the 1915 era, when many immigrants came to work in local steel mills.
Other topics to be addressed are World War I, the 1916 riot over low pay and the worker housing created by Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co.
The cost to attend is $25 per child and adult. Tickets are $15 each for additional adults and $10 each for additional children.
