Mahoning County sees increase in closed-house sales

Mahoning County had the highest closed-housing sales in the Mahoning Valley in September.

The county saw a 6.8 percent increase with 221 closed sales last month compared with 207 closed sales last September, according to data released by the Youngstown Columbiana County Association of REALTORS.

In Columbiana County, there was a decrease of 24.1 percent in closed-house sales. In September 2013, there were 83 houses sold and 63 last month in the county.

Trumbull County experienced a 12-percent decrease with 175 closed-house sales in September 2013, compared with 154 sold in September 2014, according to the Warren Area Board of REALTORS.

Trumbull County experienced the highest median sales price from last September. Prices increased by 12.2 percent from $69,900 to $78,450 last month. There was an 11.1-percent increase of median sales price in Mahoning County from $85,500 in September 2013 to $95,000 last month. Columbiana County had 0.2-percent increase in median sales price from $83,000 last September to $83,150 in September 2014.

Columbiana’s pending sales also increased from 71 to 86, and so did the amount of new listings, from 108 to 121.

Mahoning’s pending sales increased by 49 percent from 192 to 286, and so did the new listings from 345 to 354, an increase of 2.6 percent.

Trumbull’s pending sales also saw an increase from 151 to 211, and the new listings increased by 13.7 percent from 248 to 282.
