Hubbard Library annual sale will have new features next week
HUBBARD
At the Hubbard Library on Wednesday morning, a small group of people were getting ready for not just a big event, but a mega one.
There was some action starting to take place in the storage room under the steps, but it wasn’t moving very far or fast as Friends of the Library member Kenny Newell worked patiently in cramped quarters among the boxes of books that would be coming out in preparation for the group’s annual mega book sale next week.
It begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday and continues through 4:45 p.m. Oct. 25 at the library, 436 W. Liberty St. Make note of the start time. It’s different this year.
The collection has been growing all year — books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, LP records, cassettes, VHS tapes, and even office furniture and equipment, said Bonnie Viele, Friends treasurer and book sale chairwoman.
What’s new this year?
VHS tapes will be free. “Most places have phased them out, but a lot of people let their kids put them on a VCR,” Viele said at the library.
Office equipment includes a large electric typewriter and several computer desks, Viele said.
