“BET Hip Hop Awards 2014” (8 p.m., BET): They hip, they hop, they pat each other on the back.

“The Day the Series Stopped” (7 p.m., ESPN): “The Day the Series Stopped” is the latest compelling documentary under the “30 for 30” banner. It recalls the 1989 A’s-Giants World Series that was interrupted by the devastating Loma Prieta earthquake. Players, media members and Bay Area residents are interviewed.

“Marry Me” (9 p.m., NBC): “Marry Me” is the funniest new romantic comedy of the season, though that isn’t saying much. Casey Wilson and Ken Marino play longtime pals who are destined to be together for life — but can they bring themselves to put a ring on it?

“About a Boy” (9:30 P.M., NBC): The second season begins.
