Wellness center's 5K event raises $1,500 for autism

The Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center had its second 5K charity event on Aug. 16.
This year the proceeds were donated to the Autism Society of Ohio, Mahoning Valley and Supported and Facilitated Environments. The center, along with owner Dr. Ted Suzelis, business sponsors and runner registrations raised $1,500.
The money will be used to expand the Youngstown Camp Friend program organized through the Autism Society and Supported and Facilitated Environments.
Camp Friend, which had its inaugural camp recently, is the first day camp in Youngstown for children and teens on the autism spectrum.
Proceeds also will be used toward Circle of Friends, a monthly social group for those on the autism spectrum.
Event sponsors were Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center of Boardman, Reflexology with Karen Ann of Boardman, Healthy Treasures Health Food Store of Newton Falls, Dr. Melissa Mullane Padgett of Boardman, New Hope Imaging of Kent, Art Consumed of Akron, Humtown Products of Columbiana, The Vindicator of Youngstown and Ultima Replenisher of New York.
