Teachers in central Ohio school district return to classrooms

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (AP) — Teachers in a central Ohio school district are back in school after a strike lasting for 15 school days.

The Columbus Dispatch reports teachers at Reynoldsburg schools returned to their classrooms today after the teachers union and school board approved a contract last week.

The sticky issues at the heart of the three-week strike included class sizes and merit-based raises.

The approved three-year contract included base-pay raises and maintained health insurance coverage. It also included goals for class sizes.

The district, which includes about 7,000 students and is located east of Columbus, says it will spread the lost wages from the strike over remaining paychecks this year.
