Sister Jerome to share memories

LIBERTY

The William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will present “Memories with Sister Jerome” at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz Deli Meeting Room, 3135 Belmont Ave.

The program is open to the public. Admission is free, with a good will offering and a 50-50 raffle sale available at the door.

Seating is limited, so advanced reservations are suggested. Walk-ins are welcome.

Sister Jerome Corcoran, a Roman Catholic Ursuline sister, is a pioneer urban educator. She has founded the Youngstown Community School, the Mill Creek Children’s Center, Sister Jerome’s Poor and Sister Jerome’s Kids.

Sister Jerome will recall, in an informal manner, a lifetime in the Youngstown area, her childhood, teen years, her vocation and a lifetime of education service given to generations of immigrant children. A question and answer period will follow the program. Light refreshments will be served.

For information or to make a reservation, phone Richard S. Scarsella, WHMHS president, at 330-726-8277.
