A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Oct. 3

Recovered property: A woman found a credit card while walking near state Route 304.

Oct. 4

Harassment: A First Street woman reported a Hubbard woman, 49, has sent her unwanted text messages, apparently the result of a disagreement related to paying medical bills.

Citation: Officers on North Main Street pulled over 71-year-old Gary M. Thiel of Grandview Avenue, Hubbard, and cited him on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Thiel’s blood-alcohol count was 0.132, a report showed.

Oct. 7

Harassment: A Fifth Avenue man said a Warren man, 35, whom he had terminated has been sending the accuser such text messages.

Fraud: A West Park Avenue woman discovered her debit card had been used five times without authorization at various Youngstown locations.

Oct. 9

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s front windshield was damaged in the 600 block of West Liberty Street, reportedly the result of juveniles throwing rocks at cars.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Stewart Avenue led to a felony drug-possession charge against 50-year-old Lori J. White of Stewart, Hubbard, after police said they seized three prescription bottles, one of which contained a mixture of medications. White also was wanted on a Portage County warrant.

LIBERTY

Oct. 4

Fraud: A worker for Liberty Mini Mart, 3007 Belmont Ave., told police a caller claiming to represent First Energy said the business owed money for services and that the electricity would be disconnected if payment was not made. The employee was instructed to buy two prepaid credit cards totaling $997 before he realized it was a scam, a report stated.

Theft: A Northview Drive man said he was improperly billed for four phone accounts.

Auto theft: A 2003 Pontiac vehicle was stolen in the 1300 block of Shannon Road.

Oct. 5

Drugs: Authorities stopped 38-year-old Angie E. Lopez after saying she was driving the wrong way near Frederick Street and charged Lopez, of Frederick, with cocaine possession and operating a vehicle impaired. A bag of powder thought to be crack cocaine was found, police alleged.

Oct. 6

Bad check: A Truman Avenue woman reported a Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman wrote a $35 check to the accuser’s business before the business learned that the check had been drawn on a closed account.

Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of Ventura Drive through the front door. Charges were pending against a 41-year-old Warren man, who also was wanted on multiple warrants.

Drugs: Officers responded to suspicious activity in the 500 block of East Liberty Street and arrested 22-year-old Emily S. Hudson on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after alleging the Akron woman had a suspected marijuana pipe, two syringes and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use.

Arrest: Rashad Adams of Jackson Street, Campbell, was taken into custody after having been pulled over near Fifth Avenue. The 30-year-old Adams was wanted on a Trumbull County 911 warrant charging driving under suspension.

Drugs: A drug-related charge was pending against a man after officers responded to an overdose at a Trumbull Court residence and found a man unconscious in a bathroom. The man admitted having taken heroin, police said.

Oct. 7

Drugs/stolen property: Authorities conducted a vehicle-registration check on Goldie Road, then arrested Gary L. Faidley, 27, of Hollsopple, Pa., on charges of possession of heroin, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Faidley, who also was wanted on a felony warrant charging receiving stolen property and forgery, had a spoon for intravenous drug use as well as a bag of suspected heroin, a report showed.

Oct. 8

Arrest: Authorities responded to a possibly reckless driver on Goldie Road, where they took into custody 24-year-old Antwan J. Howell of Foster Street, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Campbell warrant charging driving under suspension.

Drugs: Police responded to someone bicycling the wrong way near Northgate Drive before charging Jerome E. Lewis, 25, with drug abuse. Lewis, of Catalina Avenue, Youngstown, had a suspected marijuana cigar, a report said.

Oct. 9

Drugs: A traffic stop near Fifth Avenue led to the arrest of 27-year-old Laqwan T. Brooks on charges of possession of cocaine and dangerous drugs. Brooks, of Regis Avenue, Youngstown, had a bag containing seven white pills and two bags of a white powder that tested positive for cocaine, police said.

Theft: A Fifth Avenue woman reported a man took $100 from her under false pretenses.

GIRARD

Oct. 6

Burglary: Occurred in the 400 block of Parkview Drive. Stolen was a safe containing $20,000 and assorted valuables.

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 200 block of Trumbull Avenue used a key to damage a vehicle’s trunk lid. The damage estimate was $300.

Menacing: A man said a driver threatened to harm him as he walked on Abbey Street.

Theft/criminal mischief: A man visiting a home in the 30 block of East Howard Street reported a compact-disc player was removed from his car and that the dashboard sustained damage.

Oct. 7

Arrest: Corey Heinselman, 29, of Oak Knoll Avenue, Niles, faced charges of criminal trespassing, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after his former girlfriend, of Elruth Court, alleged Heinselman had entered her residence, then broke a fish tank in the home and damaged her vehicle’s front and rear windshields. He also refused to comply with police, they said.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Patricia Drive woman said a man took but failed to return her 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix vehicle.

Menacing: A 15-year-old Girard girl reported another girl threatened to beat her up as the accuser got off a school bus.

Theft: An East Liberty Street woman said a woman borrowed $657 from her, supposedly to give to the accuser’s new landlord, then refused to pay it back.

Oct. 8

Auto theft: A 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was stolen in the 200 block of East Main Street.

Oct. 9

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into and stole copper piping from the basement of a residence in the 400 block of Reeds Court.

Oct. 10

Recovered property: A 24-inch boys mountain bike was found after a South Davis Street woman reported it stolen from her front porch.
