POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Oct. 7
Criminal damaging: A window sustained $75 in damage at a residence in the 6000 block of Diana Drive.
Theft: A laptop computer and its case were removed from a vehicle parked on Shepherds Lane.
BOARDMAN
Oct. 5
Arrest: A traffic stop near Tippecanoe Road resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Loni R. Cocca of Four Seasons Trail, Poland. She was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.
Identity theft: A West Boulevard man said a former friend has been using social-media websites to harass him and gain access to the accuser’s accounts.
Stolen property: Authorities arrested 27-year-old Kellie K. Kearney on a misdemeanor receiving-stolen-property charge after a Woodward Avenue man told police Kearney, of Runnemede Drive, Boardman, had taken a wedding ring and money June 3 from a dresser in his home.
Theft: Police said a man and a woman stole three hooded sweatshirts valued at $294 from Pink by Victoria’s Secret in the Southern Park Mall.
Domestic violence: Marc S. Hamilton, 38, of Trenholm Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his father alleged Hamilton had punched his face during an argument.
Theft: Wayne M. Vargo, 55, was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after two $45 pocket knives were stolen from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Vargo, of East Indianola Avenue, Youngstown, also had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe in his possession, police said.
Theft: Authorities charged 18-year-old Caralyn J. Dailey of Market Street, North Lima, with stealing a $6 bottle of cream from Walmart.
Oct. 6
Arrest: Officers responded to a suspicious person on Marinthiana Avenue, where they took 46-year-old Steven E. Kuhn Jr. into custody. Kuhn, who listed Youngstown addresses on East Indianola and Homestead avenues, was wanted on warrants charging obstructing official business, theft and failure to appear in court.
Attempted fraud: A Harrington Avenue man who was corresponding with a woman online regarding a possible job opportunity reported discovering the person’s email account likely had been hacked and that someone was posing as the woman.
Harassment: A Salinas Trail woman said her former boyfriend has been making and sending unwanted calls and gifts to her.
Menacing: A Brookwood Road man told police a manager and an employee with a Market Street car dealership cornered and threatened him as the accuser inquired about his vehicle having been impounded.
Theft: Wireless headphones valued at $50 were taken from Walmart.
Drugs: Misty B. McKim of Erie Street, Boardman, faced charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after police had conducted a vehicle registration check near Southern Boulevard. The 30-year-old McKim had a spoon with burn marks and residue common in drug use and a used needle with suspected drug residue, a report said.
Theft: Headphones valued at $100 were stolen from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: A woman reported her $600 iPhone stolen while at the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Two women stole $8 worth of items from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.
Oct. 7
Arrest: Rebecca J. Speicher was taken into custody at her Massachusetts Avenue apartment on a felony obstructing-justice charge after police alleged the 33-year-old Poland woman had knowingly hindered their ability to apprehend a wanted person.
Assault: A worker for a Southern Park Mall told police a woman sprayed her face and neck with pepper spray.
Burglary: To a residence in the 1700 block of Lealand Avenue via a rear door. A laptop computer and a $200 gold band were stolen.
Misuse of a credit card: A Stratmore Avenue woman learned her money card had been used to make $505 worth of unauthorized charges, many in Miami.
Theft: A wallet and a driver’s license were among items taken from a vehicle parked in the 4000 block of Shelbourne Drive.
Theft: Someone removed about $3 worth of change from a car parked in the 3100 block of Straley Lane.
Arrest: A vehicle check in the 3900 block of Market Street led to 41-year-old Ruth N. Weaver’s arrest. Weaver, of Alameda Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court.
Theft: A man stole $208 worth of cologne and cologne testers from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A man took a San Francisco 49ers T-shirt and a jacket from Touchdown Gifts in Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: Dandre R. Thomas, 19, of Lemans Drive, Boardman, was picked up at his residence. Thomas was wanted on a Struthers warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a fenced-in area at the Blue Wolf Tavern, 1295 Boardman-Canfield Road, before removing fryer grease, 10 buckets, 15 milk crates and four empty beer kegs. The loss came to $740.
Identity theft: An elderly Indian Trail woman told officers she received a letter from the Ohio Department of Taxation stating her Social Security number had been used without consent to try to divert her 2013 income taxes into another account.
Theft: A Rockdale Avenue man reported an envelope containing $1,200 was missing from his home.
Theft: A woman discovered $30, a backpack and various textbooks had been taken from her vehicle while it was parked in the 4100 block of Baymar Drive.
