The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley will present the sixth annual boccie tournament at Cassese’s MVR, 410 N. Walnut St., at 5 p.m. Monday .
The newly named “Carmstrong Bocce for Hope,” in memory of the late Carmine Cassese, will take place in conjunction with the 2014 Youngstown State University Homecoming festivities. This event is one of the four-part Hope Series charity fundraisers the foundation features annually.
Admission is free, but a $2 donation is requested. Teams are now being formed, and all skill levels are welcome. The registration fee is $25 per person or $10 per person for YSU students with a valid ID. The winning team will receive four tickets to the upcoming Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns game Dec. 14. Other prizes also will be awarded.

The city school board will conduct a Community Informational Meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. The meeting will be hosted by the 7th Ward Citizens Coalition. Light refreshments will be served. Attendees will be able to meet school board members and learn more about the school district’s new student program options from an update by Superintendent Connie Hathorn. Attendees also will be able to ask questions and make suggestions about how the district can continue to excite, challenge and inspire students to achieve academic excellence.
