Candlelight memorial remembers infants who died

Gianna’s Light 6th Annual Candlelight Memorial for National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Church Presbyterian, 1933 Canfield Road.

Gianna’s Light is an organization founded by Sherri Horvat after the death of her daughter, Gianna Lynne, who was stillborn April 15, 2009.

It is the organization’s mission to bring comfort and hope to families who have suffered the loss of a baby through still birth, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or neonatal death, she said.

Candles will be lit from 7 to 8 p.m., joining the worldwide Wave of Light happening in all time zones, all around the world, to bring awareness and to bring families together. Names of babies also will be read aloud, with luminarias lit in their memory. This public, nondenominational event is free, and open to the public, but registration is required by Monday to sherri@giannaslight.org.
