Concord, accountability, resolve, excellence, integrity and service — just a string of words grouped together, but to the North American Dental Group, it’s what care is, or CAREIS, which is the company’s core values.

Those values helped the dental group along with its brand names, Refresh Dental, Corner Dental and Dental Express, to appear on Inc. Magazine’s list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. for a second time.

The company was ranked No. 337, compared with No. 441 last year. In 2010, the company reported revenue profit of $2.8 million, which increased to $41.3 million in 2013.

Chad Wise, the CPO of NADG, said he credits the team for helping them place on the list again this year. Wise and Kenneth Cooper, company CEO, will travel next weekend to Washington, D.C., to accept an award that has gone to Microsoft, Zappos and other high-profile companies in the magazine’s 33-year history.

“We built a phenomenal team that made this happen,” Cooper said.

NADG is a dental-service organization that brings together different practices related to dentistry, such as orthodontics and periodontics.

“We believe that we’re the first group to introduce a hospitalized form of dentistry to the country,” Cooper said.

He added that the company does not fit in with the corporation identity, and goes so far to consider its headquarters in New Castle, Pa., as a resource center for its 60 clinic locations throughout Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. There are 10 locations within the Mahoning Valley, he said.

Like any company, NADG faces it own set of challenges, including finding the right people with the right skills set to provide the quality care of dentistry at its locations. Another challenge is balancing the central operation costs at its resource center versus the clinic costs, Cooper said.

Recently, the company renovated its clinic at 6540 South Ave., near Andrea Lane in Boardman, which is its second-longest-standing location. The majority of the clinic supports underprivileged patients that use Medicaid.

Cooper said it’s important to give back to the community and provide the same quality of care for underprivileged patients.

Wise said it is a demonstration of the company’s most-important core value, which is service.

NADG started in 2010 after Cooper and Wise started collaborating. The company plans to expand to more than 100 locations by the end of next year and continue to expand its specialized services.

“We want to expand our footprint beyond the three states,” Cooper added.
