America Makes adds leading national security members

The four leading National Nuclear Security Administration national laboratories and the National Security Campus executed America Makes membership agreements, America Makes announced Thursday.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the National Security Campus are all now members of America Makes, the National Manufacturing Innovation Institute that is driven by the Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining.
America Makes, based in downtown Youngstown, said in a press release the added membership shows the Department of Energy’s “commitment to advancing additive manufacturing and 3-D printing technologies as it relates to the DOE’s national energy strategy.”
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory provides solutions to top national- security challenges.
Los Alamos National Laboratory is a “multidisciplinary research institute engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security,” according to the release.
The National Security Campus, operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies LLC, “seeks to protect some of the nation’s premier security assets.”
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest science and energy national laboratory in the Department of Energy system. The first Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge helps the industry adopt new manufacturing technologies.
Sandia National Laboratories is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Sandia Corp. Sandia has responsibilities in national security, energy and environmental technologies and economic competitiveness, according to the release.
