“In the Spirit of Christmas,” Victorian Players, Victorian Players Theater, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday. The show is an evening of one-act plays with Christmas themes, with new acts chosen each year; this year’s are “The Bells of Charlemont” by Don Zoldis, “Tis the Season” by Linda Berry and “It’s A Wonderful Life in Neverland” by Patrick Greene and Jason Pizzarello. Roles are available for actors of all ages, sizes, types and experience, with opportunities for first-timers and children age 5 and up. Also needed are several teen- agers and older adults. Actors will be required to read from a provided script. “A Playhouse Christmas Carol,SDRq directed by David El’Hatton, written for the Playhouse by Paul Kimpel, Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, auditions 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The show requires a very large cast of all ages; children are needed and encouraged to audition. Those auditioning will read from the script, and a callback may be scheduled. Performances will be three weekends, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 14, as well as two days of afternoon performances for area students. “A Shakespeare Christmas Carol,SDRq written by Dylan Aaron White and directed by Jim Canacci, Kent State Trumbull Theatre, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, auditions 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. Actors should be prepared to read from a script, as well as provide contact information and possible conflicts with rehearsal schedule. Performances will be Dec. 5-7 and 12-14. The play is set during Christmas 1607 as Shakespeare is preparing his company for a performance, as the bard’s family wonders if they’ll see him for Christmas. Shakespeare characters make appearances throughout this farcical adaptation of the Christmas classic.

“Hansel and Gretel,SDRq Dublin Grange Theatre Co., 6571 Fairground Blvd., Canfield, auditions 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. Roles are available for five males and 13 females in grades three to six. No experience required. Be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsals will take place two to three times per week from 4 to 6 p.m. during the week and a few on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
