Streets closing for waterline work
YOUNGSTOWN
Connecticut Avenue between North Osborn and Moherman streets on the city’s West Side will be closed to through traffic for approximately 90 days.
Connecticut between North Dunlap and North Osborn, and Dunlap and Moherman will be open to local traffic only.
The closure is necessary for waterline improvements. Local detours will be posted.
The project is being performed by the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District. Questions concerning the project should be directed to the MVSD at 330-652-3614.
Meetings canceled
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission meetings scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday and Oct. 15 at Oak-hill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 100, have been canceled. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 22.
Funds released to upgrade elevators
COLUMBUS
The state Controlling Board on Monday released $189,572 for elevator upgrades at Youngstown State University.
The funds will go to Domokur Architects of Akron for design services related to a larger elevator-safety repair and replacement project.
Most of the elevators in use at YSU were installed more than 25 years ago. According to documents, “This project will ensure that all of YSU’s elevators are current and meet the strictest guidelines with minimal disruption to service now and well into the future.”
