$52 million in 14 days at at Hollywood Gaming shows Valley's love for gambling
CLEVELAND — The Ohio Lottery Commission has reported that $52,862,274 cash and credits were played at the new racino over its first 14 days of operation. That led to net winnings of $5,936,490 and a 88.77 percent payout.
Those numbers equate to a win per day per video lottery terminal machine of $499.
A good month is considered to be $300 per machine per day in VLT revenue, Penn National officials had said.
Those numbers are based on the first 14 days that Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course has been open with their 850 video lottery terminals.
The facility opened Sept. 17.
The state's four casinos, meanwhile, saw revenues take a dive in September.
The latest monthly totals released today show all four had a decline from August. Combined, the casinos also posted lower overall revenue numbers compared with September a year ago.
Casinos in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo pulled in just over $63 million last month. That was down by $5.5 million from September 2013.
The casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati saw revenue drops for the month compared with a year ago, but the Toledo and Columbus casinos did show slightly better numbers in September than they did last year.
The voter-approved casinos have drawn more than $612 million so far this year. About one-third of those revenues are collected in taxes.
