UPDATE | Identity of woman killed on I-680 revealed

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s office said the victim in a fatal accident on Interstate 680 this morning is 20-year-old Nicole Baird.

A news release said Baird was from Youngstown.

She was killed in an accident about 5:30 a.m. today. Police said she was traveling north on Interstate 680 when she ran over a bag of leaves and stopped in the left-hand lane to dislodge the bag from her vehicle.

She was struck by another northbound vehicle and flipped over the concrete median into the southbound lane, where she was hit by a hit car traveling south that did not stop.

The release said Baird died instantly from massive head injuries. Police are looking for the car that hit her in the southbound lane.
