Here are some facts about the Mahoning County library levy, Issue 3 on the Nov. 4 ballot:

Type of levy: Real estate tax.

Duration: Five years.

Amount: 2.4 mills (renewal of 1.8 mill and addition of 0.6-mill), generating $9,315,141 annually.

Levy that will be allowed to expire: 1 mill.

Current annual levy revenue: $3,736,982 from 1-mill levy; $7,098,992 from 1.8-mill levy, for a combined total of $10,835,974.

Annual cost of proposed Nov. 4 levy: $76.10 for the owner of a $100,000 home.

Annual costs of existing levies: $30.62 for 1 mill, $55.12 for 1.8 mill; $85.74 combined for the $100,000 homeowner.

Annual library operating budget: $14,162,431 for 15-branch system in 2014.

Director Heidi Daniel’s salary: $112,000 annually.

Pay range for librarians and library assistants: $14.88 to $33.18 per hour.

Library clerk pay range: $10.92 to $15.24 per hour.

Number of staff members: 182.
