Film about Holocaust survivors tonight at Jewish Community Center

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown area Jewish Film Festival will feature a screening of the documentary “Kinderblock 66: Return to Buchenwald” 7 p.m. tonight at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.

Two Holocaust survivors featured in the film, local Youngstown resident Henry Kinast¸ as well as Alex Moskovic, son of film producer Steven Moskovic, will be on hand for the program. They will speak after the screening.

Kinderblock 66 is the story of four men, who as young boys, were imprisoned by the Nazis in the notorious Buchenwald concentration camp, and 65 years later returned to commemorate their liberation by U.S. forces.

Nearly 1,000 boys who were imprisoned in the Block survived their ordeal in part because of the assistance of the Block commander and members of the Communist-led underground. Kinast and Moskovic were two of these surviving boys.

The film is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged. To reserve a seat, contact Courtney Lockshaw at 330-746-3250, ext. 283 or email clockshaw@jccyoungstown.org.
