MINERAL RIDGE

Alik Bradford accounted for three touchdowns to lead the Tigers on Friday night. Bradford scored on runs of 24 and 46 yards and threw a 36-yard touchdown to Devon Smith. Wellsville improves to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Inter Tri-County League, Tier Two play. Jarred Miller scored the lone touchdown for the Rams (1-5, 0-3).

GIRLS TENNIS

Division I

The top-ranked Canfield tennis doubles duo of Hannah Cianciola and Ashley Kaleel suffered two losses in Canton on Saturday. As a result, they’ll enter the Division I girls district tennis tournament as the fourth representative of the district. In the semifinals, they lost to Hoover’s Kaitlin Kaye and Makayla Sutter 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Then in the third place match, Cianciola and Kaleel fell to Louisville’s Gretchen Groves and Sarah Robbins 6-2, 7-6 (6). Tessa Hill of Jackson won the singles tournament 7-6 (7), 6-2 over Danielle Beyes of Green.

Division II

Poland’s Elise Eckman earned the sectional title Saturday in singles play. In the semifinals, Eckman defeated Allison Christopher (Ursuline) 6-0, 6-0. Eckman beat Kara Thompson (Struthers) 6-1, 6-0 in the finals and is the No. 1 seed for the district tournament. Thompson is the No. 2 seed, Christopher is the No. 3 seed and Gianna Reider (Mooney) is the No. 4 seed. In doubles action, Hallie Yerian and Lizzie Mathews (Mooney) beat Marissa Riccardi and Audrey Schweers (Poland) 6-3, 6-4 in the finals for the top seed. Maria Stroup and Ellie Cole (Warren JFK) defeated Lauren Paczak and Carlie Stein (Lakeview) to earn the No. 3 seed. Riccardi-Schweers are the No. 2 seed and Paczak-Stein are the No. 4 seed. The district tournament starts Friday in Canton.

At Carter Stadium, Samantha Ellis made three saves as the Cardinals (10-3-1) recorded their seventh shutout. Mackenzie Metzinger led the Cardinals’ defense. Julie Vazquez scored four goals and set up another. Lexy Herman scored three goals and made two assists. Liz Philibin had a goal and an assist.

Jenn Boyd had two goals, Morgan Scott had a goal and four assists and Leah Prollifrone scored twice for Howland (13-2). Marissa Grande scored Hubbard’s goal.

Rachel Braunegg and Abby Pavlik scored four goals, Sam Yanci had a goal and four assists and Emma Rogers had an assists for Lakeview (9-3-2). Jillian Dick had 20 saves for Edgewood. JV: 2-2.

SAEGERTOWN, PA.

Gina Peters scored three goals for Cambridge Springs in a blowout win over West Middlesex. Taylor Babb added a pair of goals in the second half, with Rachel Skelton and Same Watson rounding out the scoring. Savannah Risjan and Brenna Digiacomo recorded the shutout for Cambridge Springs. JV: 1-1.
