YOUNGSTOWN

From 8:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 23 the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce will have a Small Business Chamber University event which will feature three timely topics: slow to hire and quick to fire; a preview of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation changes in 2015; and using the public library as a business resource.

The event will take place in the Covelli Centre Community room.

The cost is $20 for chamber members and $30 for prospective members.

TCTC schedules meet-and-greet event

From 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 16, the Trumbull County Career and Technical Center will have an informal meet and greet with the TCTC Adult Training Center’s Industrial Training Coordinator Bob Lidle.

Lidle is responsible for developing, improving and implementing all industrial-related training.

ODNR open house targets abandoned Ohio mine projects

SALEM

Representatives from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will have an open house to discuss proposed abandoned mine projects throughout Ohio.

The meeting location specific to Columbiana, Mahoning, Jefferson and Stark counties will be at 3601 Newgarden Road Salem on Oct. 20.

Open house hours are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.

ODNR staff will be available to discuss and answer questions about Ohio mines that were abandoned before 1977.

Give to fundraiser, get a brick from 1917 Alliance hospital

ALLIANCE

On Friday, the Alliance Community Hospital will give a brick from the 1917 building of the old hospital to anyone who makes a minimum donation of $35 during this fundraising campaign.

The initial availability of bricks will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday in the Discharge Circle at Alliance Community Hospital.

There are 1,000 bricks available and donations will benefit the Alliance Community Hospital Foundation.
