AUSTINTOWN

Awesometown Oktoberfest is back for its fifth year Sunday in the township park, 6512 Kirk Road.

Mark Cole, event organizer, said the event is a way to “utilize our township park and bring the people out and give them something to do right in our town and showcase our park and the people, community, the local vendors and businesses — and let everyone have a great day.”

The event, from noon to 5 p.m., is free to the public. Vendors and exhibitors can set up shop at the park Sunday for a $25 space fee. Cole said businesses should bring their own tables and chairs.

Vendors will sell food throughout the event, including the Austintown Robotics Club selling pizza as a fundraiser for its competitions.

All the proceeds go to Austintown Generational Enrichment Corp., a 501(c)(3) organization.

“We donated money toward tables and chairs at the senior center,” Cole explained of the corporation. He added the group is looking at expanding how it gives back to the township, including offering “one boy and one girl scholarship this year, and we’re working on different ideas to help the community.”

There will be a classic-car show from 1 to 4 p.m., live music, vendors selling food and activities for kids, including inflatables from Austintown Bounce. Businesses participating in the event are encouraged to donate to Awesometown and/or sponsor to continue to make the event a success.

Cole said the weather should be clear by Sunday and that vendors will be on pavement, with specific places to park in the township park for attendees’ cars.

“Everyone is welcome, and please come on down and celebrate everything awesome about Austintown,” Cole said.
