Performance added as benefit event

YOUNGSTOWN

Rust Belt Theater Company has added a performance at 8 p.m. Sunday of “Alice: A Curious Musical” to benefit the Joshua Joki family. The brother of Robert Dennick Joki, executive director, died last week. He left a wife and five children. Money raised will be given to the family. For reservations, call 330-507-2358.

There also will be an art auction during the Autumn Market and LawnCon from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the B&O Station.

YSU Jazz Ensemble plays Monday

YOUNGSTOWN

Dana School of Music will present a concert featuring Youngstown State University’s Jazz Ensembles 1 and 2, directed by Alton Merrell and Kent Engelhardt, at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room.

The concert will include music by Horace Silver, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Thad Jones, Ambrose Akinmusire, Bob Mintzer, Joshua Redman and arrangements by jazz faculty Kent Engelhardt.

The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the M1 Wick Avenue parking deck for a fee.

Talent show set Oct. 11 at playhouse

A Red Carpet Talent Showcase is planned from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 11 at Youngstown Playhouse. The family-oriented event includes R&B musicians, rappers and comedians. Tickets are $15 at the door and $12 by calling 404-915-6378.
