No injuries in Angel Carriers fire

BOARDMAN — The township fire department has put out a fire at Angel Carriers, an ambulance service at 5095 Market St., that they responded to at about 8:30 a.m.

The fire started when a mechanic was using a torch to cut out springs on the suspension of one of the company's vans, and the van caught on fire, said Fire Chief Mark Pitzer.

"It rapidly spread to the structure of the building," Pitzer said.

No one was injured in the fire.

The Youngstown Fire Department was also on scene to assist, Pitzer said.

"We did a good job of getting the fire under control pretty quickly," he said.

Pitzer said there is quite a bit of damage to the building, but the fire department is still determining the estimated value.
