Falcon Foundry strike enters second day

LOWELLVILLE

About two dozen Falcon Foundry strikers are still camped on the corner of Third Street and East Water Street in Lowellville.

Strikers have been at that location since midnight Thursday, on strike seeking higher wages and benefits for workers, members of United Steel Workers Local 5025.

Phil Rotunno, strike coordinator, said about 100 full-time and part-time Falcon Foundry workers are participating in the strike. He said the Falcon Foundry president and vice president met with the union president and recording secretary this morning to come to an agreement on the wages and benefits.

Rotunno said things have been peaceful between strikers and Falcon Foundry management. He said there is extra security at the Falcon Foundry today.

“We’re not looking to damage any of their assets, though,” Rotunno said. “We’re looking to get back to work in there. The Foundry’s like family. We’re hoping issues are resolved today.”
