Staff report
WARREN
A 19-year-old city man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for what he called a “drive-by” shooting on Parkman Road Northwest on Tuesday.
When police arrived at 9 p.m., the man was yelling on the sidewalk in front of the garden center at Kmart, 2485 Parkman Road. He had a gunshot wound to the calf of his leg, but he avoided answering questions about what happened.
Police followed a blood trail to behind the store near the store’s loading docks and collected evidence, including $1,036 in cash, a do-rag and other articles of clothing, all belonging to the victim. Police also found five bullet casings.
It is the second time in two days that gunfire has led to injury of a young man in Warren.
A 27-year-old Logan Avenue man with a concealed-carry permit narrowly avoided being hit by gunfire Monday night during a shootout by an 18-year-old man who fired multiple times at him on Logan Avenue.
The victim also fired his gun at the suspect, who was arrested and charged with felonious assault. The victim was hit by breaking glass, causing a laceration, but neither man was hit by a bullet.
